When it comes to diagnosing illnesses and injuries in our animal companions, not everything that your pet may be suffering from can be easily detected on the surface of the skin. To achieve a quick and accurate diagnosis, we must delve deeper and examine your pet from the inside. We employ the use of advanced diagnostic imaging to help us learn precisely what’s happening inside your pet’s body so that we can quickly diagnose the problem and develop an appropriate treatment protocol as soon as possible.

Non-surgical procedure for skin lesion removal

Cryosurgery or cryotherapy is a safe, noninvasive form of surgery that uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy small skin masses and lesions so that it eventually falls off and is replaced with healthy tissue. There is no need for general anaesthesia, sutures, or antibiotics. and usually takes only a few minutes to perform.

The applicators used are precise, destroying only the selected tissues. Because the cold causes numbing which reduces pain, most pets tolerate the treatment well.

Some conditions that can be treated with cryosurgery are:

  • Eyelid tumors

  • Lick granulomas

  • Skin tags

  • Papillomas

  • Adenomas

  • Warts

  • Cysts

Every patient and condition is unique and sometimes multiple treatments over a period of time may be required.  During an exam with our vets, you can discuss if cryosurgery might be appropriate for your pet’s condition.
